100% Pure Cordyceps militaris Fruiting Bodies: Potency and Support for Your Health and Well-Being*

Mushrooms as dietary supplements are gaining in popularity. With so many products on the market, it can be tricky as a consumer to know if you are getting pure Cordyceps militaris. There are powders, pills, extracts, blends and dried fruiting bodies to consider. It can be overwhelming with so many choices—but you can become a savvy consumer and learn the difference between what’s worth your money and what you should skip!

Discover the difference between fruiting body and mycelium products, learn to know your source, and appreciate transparency in your mushroom supplier. At Mushroom Revival, we take out the guesswork by cultivating our pure Cordyceps militaris using organic methods.

How to Tell If You Are Getting Pure Cordyceps

To ensure you are getting pure Cordyceps militaris, look to see if the product you are buying uses fruiting bodies or myceliated grain. It is a less labor intensive process to grow Cordyceps mycelium on grain, like rice, millet or wheat. However, the end product contains a significant amount of grain starches and sugars, which can artificially increase the beta glucan (polysaccharide) count in a product. The polysaccharides may offer adaptogenic support for our immune systems, and it’s best for the beta glucans to come from the mushroom and mycelium itself, not from the rice or millet.

Cordyceps militaris is capable of being cultivated, making it accessible to many consumers. However, Cordyceps sinensis can only be found wild through foraging. Cordyceps sinensis will appear in some products, but as it can typically cost over $20,000 a pound, it will not show up as a fruiting body in products. The Sinensis mycelium used in these products is grown on grain and, compared to fruiting bodies, contains much lower amounts of cordycepin and adenosine — analogues for ATP, the energy molecule used by the mitochondria in our cells.* This is part of why pure Cordyceps may support healthy energy, as fruiting bodies contain the higher amounts of cordycepin and adenosine.*
